Who We Are
The Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program is an organization dedicated to increasing and enhancing pro bono legal services to low-income people in Dallas through the recruitment, training, and support of volunteer attorneys.
What We Do
OPEN ONLY TO ATTORNEYS AND LAW STUDENTS
Applicants apply on our website and the application is automatically emailed to DVAP. Once DVAP receives the application, DVAP sends out an email to the applicant confirming the date and time of the virtual clinic that they have been assigned.
The day before a scheduled virtual clinic, applications are shut down for that clinic by 4:00 p.m. Sponsoring firms and volunteers are emailed all applications by 5:00 p.m. on the day prior to the clinic. The applications appear as attachments in one email from DVAP. This email will also contain an excel document containing all applicant names to track the clinic progress as well as a script to guide attorneys in their client calls.
In the email containing the applications sent to firms, there will be a link to an attorney notes page. This link will take attorneys to a digital form to record their client interview notes.
Volunteers type answers into these forms and then upload them into the attorney notes digital form. Upon completion of the digital attorney notes page, attorneys will click “submit” at the bottom of the page and the form will be emailed to DVAP to later pair up with the application for completion of our intake process by our staff.
